this isn't exactly a rav4 related problem but i have it with my rav4 so here it goes. i do a bit ot towing and mechanics recomendet to keep an eye on various temsp in the powertrain to keep it safe. thats all fine and dandy but with not builtin temp gauges i have to use a scanner which does well but i cannot view the data on my phone only the realtime values so i wanted to ask if is theres a better app for that or i cant find the option?

Bro, you can use the OBD2 scanner, I have used it too and it's pretty easy. You can download it on your phone to see what your car is doing in realtime

Wait, any obd2 scanner or do I need a specific one? I've seen some for a few bucks, but I'm also seeing some which are over $100? To be fair, it's not like this is something I absolutely need, but it's a nice thing to brag to my buddies

@SleepingInteligence9 speaking of towing, how much should we pay attention to the temps? Anything specific your mechanic said? I don't tow a lot, but there might a situation when I need to and I don't want to damage my Rav4

Check out Torque Pro if you're using Android, or OBD Fusion for iPhone, either of these apps lets you log data for later review. DashCommand is another great option with solid logging features. Just be sure that your OBD scanner supports continuous data streaming to ensure accurate logging.
