RATS EVERYWHERE

Oh yeah there's something so wrong about rats I just can't handle them. I faint at the sight like I am not a man... No judgement please. Anyway that is why I am commenting here. My cabin air filter has some remnants of, I don't know how to say without getting banned by mods, rat sh!t? I looked for a solution and came across with the strainer looking metal thing that I can use to replace the plastic grill for that part. I was wondering, for those of you who have already thought about this, is there a specific this thing that I can buy OEM? Or not? Do I have to improvise? If possible can you please give me a suggestion a specific one on where I can find it.

honestly man if you're seeing rat mess in your cabin filter you should be looking for the actual entry point first before thinking about some DIY grill fix because if they're getting in that deep something's not sealed right and slapping a metal strainer on might just be a bandaid on a bigger issue check for gaps in the firewall or vents first otherwise you're just inviting them back

@mickeymoo I don't have a rodents problem, but my dad's car has it. it's awful and I really hate rats. commenting here to see the solutions

first off, I agree with what @ConsoleWarrior9001 said about checking for the entry points before the fix to prevent reoccurrence, and you can usually find that metal strainer part OEM through your dealership, try checking with them directly to see if they have a solution for your specific model.

Ok I will keep my mouth shut because you specifically asked no judgment, but there are rats I think due to soy based wires? So whatever you do whatever grill you change, I'm just not sure it's gonna be alright

I agree with checking where the rodents enter first. This could help you figure out what actually needs to fixed or replaced

I completley understand, I'd feel the same way, no judgment here! I've heard about some people replacing the plastic grill with a metal mesh screen. Since an exact OEM part isn't always available, you might need to get a bit creative. You could look into using hardware cloth or something similar to the Dorman 259-100, it's done the trick for others. Good luck, and here's to keeping those pesky rats awayy
